Invitation Wording Samples
Tips & Notes:
• Honor vs. Honour - The English version of Honour is used when the services is held in a place of worship; other “the pleasure of your company is used”; Typically if HONOUR is used you can use FAVOUR on the response card if you choose to word it in that manner.
• Zip codes are not needed anywhere on invitation or the insert cards
• It is proper to spell out dates and times
• Believe it or not, the year is optional, as it is assumed. But most people choose to add it.
• If your reception is at a different location then your ceremony, you will need a separate card to specify the time and address; however if your ceremony is held at the reception venue, then you can simply add something like “Reception to Follow” at the bottom of the main invitation
• Attire options can go on the bottom of the invitation or reception card. Typically on the invitation it’s off to the bottom right. Black Tie, Black Tie Optional, Black Tie Requested, Formal Attire, Cocktail Attire - are just some of the common options.
